Swedish and Finnish? Living in Finland must be crazy.

Well, Swedish is a compulsory subject, and I just can't stand Swedish. It's a good thing it's my final year in high school, because after that nobody can force me to study Swedish. It's so very wonderful to live in Finland -_-

four languages =_= ? Did you choose a language school or does everyone have to take this many?

Well, Finnish is my native, so studying it is different from foreign languages. When I went to third grade I had to choose one foreign language to study and I chose English. When you get to seventh grade here in Finland you have to start studying Swedish, unless you already study Swedish as you A-language(starts on third grade) and in that case the compulsory language is English(difficult, ain't it?) I chose to study Spanish when I went to high school, so that was my own decision. There's also this nice thing that I used to study French as well (before I got sick of it, and because studying so many languages was getting hard).

Well, that sure looks complicated. ^_^'

Well, if Spanish was your own decision it's not so complicated at all - we have almost the same system in Germany. First we learn English (unless on a humanistic school, where you start with Latin and then Greek or sth...) - no choice on this one. Then, also in seventh grade you choose either French or Latin. Additional languages are always possible, of course, and in language type schools you learn a third foreign language.
Now is that complicated or what? ^^
